Are we there yet?
"Do you have a girlfriend na?"
"When are you going to get married?"
"When are you having a baby?"
"When are you having an apo?"
(I’m surprised they’re not asking "When are you going to die?" Thank God though.)
I hate hearing those kinds of questions, and think that people ask them just for small talk - because they really don’t know you enough to ask more interesting or relevant questions.
I never ask these questions because I know the interviewee wonders about them himself.
In due course,we will all get there. We don’t have to ask when. Because we certainly don’t know the answers anyway.

Amen! Do you think that many Filipino/a Americans avoid Filipino parties just to avoid those questions?

I mean the ones where its mostly your parents and their friends and you spend a majority of the time sitting around until your parent’s friends’ son or daughter shows up (if they do at all)?
