I agree with most of your points above, Carissa. I would add that Americans living in different parts of the country may differ slightly. I lived in New York once, for only a year. Very cut-throat. People who lived there were out to prove something to the world. Life isn’t a race. It’s much better if you enjoy the ride and take in the scenery once in a while. Like that old adage says, even if you win the rat race, you’re still a rat. Besides, someone’s always going to be younger, more accomplished, smarter, better looking. It’s the universal law. But yhea, in my opinion, people in New York also experience more ‘neighbor envy’ than in other parts of the country. I’m currently studying
epidemiological trends and NY has horrible ones. I don’t know how people think they can maintain the stressful lifestyles that they have and live past 40?
